- 1 (14 3/4 oz) can salmon, drained
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Step 1: Prepare the Salmon Mixture
- Open the can of salmon and drain thoroughly.
- Transfer the salmon to a mixing bowl. Use a fork to flake it into small pieces. Don’t forget to check for and remove any large bones if present!
- Add chopped onion, cornmeal, flour, mayonnaise, and egg. Stir until everything is well combined.
Step 2: Shape the Patties
- Scoop about 1/4 cup of the mixture and form it into a patty. Aim for the size of a small burger. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
Step 3: Fry the Patties
- Heat about 2-3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, place the patties into the skillet. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan!
- Cook each patty for 3-4 minutes on one side, until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
